CULLIGAN X VTI: Campaign Overview 


  • To support Plastic-Free July, Culligan launched a two-week mobile tour across New York City and the Hamptons/Connecticut shoreline, bringing sustainable hydration directly to high-traffic urban streets and beach communities.

    The activation focused on educating consumers about single-use plastic waste and showcasing how Culligan’s filtration solutions help reduce bottles destined for landfills.

  • The Culligan truck was outfitted with two filtered water dispensers, allowing guests to refill reusable bottles on-site.

    The interior experience invited visitors inside to learn about Culligan’s water technology, sustainability mission, and everyday alternatives to single-use plastic turning hydration into an interactive, educational moment.

  • Culligan wanted to take the truck back out with a whole new way of reaching audiences. In September Culligan sponsored the Chicago Marathon and NYC Kids Marathon, the vehicle received a new interior design tailored for large-scale athletic events. The refreshed layout optimized flow, refills, and guest engagement, supporting Culligan’s role as a sustainable hydration partner at marquee endurance events while reinforcing their commitment to reducing plastic waste at scale.

Plastic Free July Mobile Tour

  • Culligan activated high-traffic locations across NYC and the Hamptons / Connecticut beach towns with mobile refill stations offering free filtered still and sparkling water encouraging the use of reusable bottles.

  • The experience combined live demos of two onboard water systems with education around reducing bottled water use, microplastics, and plastic waste through filtration.

  • Local events invited communities to participate in Plastic Free July, turning everyday hydration into an accessible, sustainability-driven action.

Keeping Runners Hydrated in Chicago and NYC.

Culligan partnered with leading running organizations to deliver sustainable hydration across major race environments, including the Chicago Marathon and select New York Road Runners race-week and youth programs.

In Chicago, Culligan deployed a mobile hydration truck as part of its multi-year partnership with the Bank of America Chicago Distance Series, providing refill access and supporting efforts to reduce single-use plastic during marathon weekend.

In New York, Culligan’s partnership with New York Road Runners (NYRR) extended across marathon-week programming, including youth-focused events such as the NYC Kids Kickoff, advancing refill culture and long-term sustainability habits among runners, families, and communities.
